A meter gauge railway service connects siliguri and cooch behar via alipurduar. A journeu itself by rail or on road through this region gives immense delight to both the mind and the eyes. WILDLIFE SANCTUARIESJaldapara wildlife sanctuary situated in Alipurduar sub-division of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal is about 124kms from Siliguri. This sanctuary was constituted in the year 1941 for the protection of wild life, particularly one horned rhinoceros..The forest is mainly savannah covered with tall elephant grasses.The wild life in addition to one horned rhinos, consists of royal bengal tigers, wild elephants, deer , sambhar, barking deer, spotted deer and hog deer, wild pig, bisons and a number of birds, peafowls.

Jaldapara is connected by road with Darjeeling and Siliguri & other towns of north Bengal. North Bengal State Transport Corporation buses, Bhutan govt. Mini buses and private buses are available from Siliguri to Alipurduar via Madrihat.

Garumara National Park
This park is located in the Dooars region of Jalpaiguri district river murti, Jaldhaka ang ingdong have passed through this national park. In 1949 Garumara was declared as a wildlife sanctuary. In the year 1992 it was declared as a national park, comprising of 89kms of diverse forest. Lataguri is the nearest small tourist strip near Garumara national park. Private resorts/ accomodation are also available here.
Chapramari is off national highway 31 from Khunia more on the way to Jaldapara. It can also be approached from the metre gauge railway stations to Chalsa or Nagrakata..
Murti
Another tourist spot near Lataguri is Murti forest resort. This centre is about 9km from Malbazar to 8 km from Chalsa situated on the bank of Murti river.
Samsing
Approximately 81 km rom Siliguri via Chalsa.
Suntale-khola
3km from samsing forest bunglow, wbfdc has tent accomodation at suntalkhola.
Jhallong
A small township,85km from siliguri. You can visit 2nd phase of hydro electric power station constructed on the river Jaldhaka .
Buxa Tiger Reserve
175 km from Siliguri, the name has been derived from Buxa fort (Buxa Duar- a fort at an altitude of 867metres on the Sinchula range guarding the most important of the eleven riutes into bhutan ). Which once was used for detainees during freedom movement of India. This tiger reserve comprises the forest area of Rajabhatkhawa, Nimati,
Barobisha, Rydak, Raimayang, Jainti, . The main rivers are Sankosh, Raidak, Jayanti, Churnia, Turturi, Pashkhawa, Dima and Nonani. Area of the tiger reserve is 759sqkm with a core area of 331 sqkm. Buxa tiger reserve was set up in the year 1982-83, which later in the year 1992, January was declared a national park.
Malbazar
In the north west of the dooars and about 50 kms from Siliguri, a scenic spot surrounded by lush green tea gardens is known as Malbazar.
Bindu
About 107km from siliguri,the last village of west bengal in indo-bhutan border, located on the bank of river jaldhaka. journey to bindu through chapramari forest is an awful experience. Next place giribus comes on your way, where diaqscorrea-a medicine plant is grown. .

Totopara
30 kms from madarihut. A small village on the banks of the river torsha near Bhutan border is the only habitation now of the dooars aboriginals-the tots. Their number has dwindledto l;ess than a hundred now. A tea garden near banarhat also bears the name totopara, probably a survival from days when toto settlements were more numerous.
